In this patient-friendly webinar, Dr. Evan Chen, a specialist in leukemia care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, will walk you through the current treatment options available for newly diagnosed AML patients. He will explain how genetic mutations influence treatment decisions, the differences between standard therapies and targeted treatments, and the key milestones in the treatment journey. This webinar is designed to help patients better understand their treatment path and feel more confident in discussing their options with their healthcare team.

Marilú Nájera Flores

Marilu Najera is an International Medical Graduate and an Event Operations Manager at the HealthTree Foundation. Her journey through several patient-centered roles has deepened her passion for advocacy, education, and connection. Now, as part of the education team, she is leading efforts to grow HealthTree’s newest community: ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia). She organizes patient-friendly webinars with expert speakers and works to ensure that patients and families feel informed, empowered, and supported. Marilu brings empathy, joy, and warmth to every project. Outside of work, she loves to travel, connect with others, and spend time with her loved ones—especially her nephews (being an aunt is her absolute favorite role in life!).

The panelist Dr. Evan C. Chen
Dr. Evan C. Chen

Dr. Evan C. Chen is an Attending Physician in the Adult Leukemia Program at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School.  He is a clinician and clinical investigator who cares for patients with myeloid malignancies and acute leukemias, including acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, and myeloproliferative neoplasms.  His research interests are in the development of new therapies for myeloid malignancies, with a focus on cellular therapy strategies and the study of leukemia epigenetics.
