Penile cancer is a rare cancer that begins in the skin and tissues of the penis. The American Cancer Society estimates about 2,260 new cases and about 450 deaths in the United States in 2026, fewer than 1 in 100,000 men each year and under 1% of all cancers in men.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) causes about 63% of cases, according to the National Cancer Institute. The remainder are linked to chronic inflammation from conditions such as phimosis and lichen sclerosus. Smoking and HIV infection also raise risk.

The most important thing to know: penile cancer is usually curable when it is found early.

The 12 guides below walk through each step, from first symptoms through treatment, survival, and support.
