WHAT IS THROMBOTIC RISK?
MPNs cause the bone marrow to overproduce blood cells, which can lead to dangerous blood clots. Thrombotic risk is the likelihood that a patient will develop a life-threatening clot (stroke, heart attack, or deep vein thrombosis). Managing this risk is critical for MPN patients.

THE CHALLENGE:
While doctors have risk stratification tools for most MPNs, significant uncertainties remain—especially for:
- Young patients with MPNs
- Myelofibrosis (less well-defined risk assessment)

THE OVERLOOKED FACTOR:
Many MPN patients also have other health conditions that increase clot risk:
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Diabetes
- Hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol)
