Speakers & Moderators

Cynthia is a newborn ICU nurse by trade that has spent the last six years in the medical device industry educating nurses and doctors about devices that are new to their facility. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, traveling the world with her family, and creating Halloween animatronics for her annual front yard display. She has a passion for life-long learning and enjoys sharing what she learns with the people around her.

Roy Trafalski was a USPTA-certified Tennis Professional and is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Deaf and hard of hearing Education and Athletics Foundation (DhhEAF). For more than 20 years, Roy has dedicated his career to leading the only program in the United States that teaches life skills to Deaf and hard of hearing students through the game of tennis. Through DhhEAF’s nonprofit mission, many students are able to pick up a tennis racket and receive professional instruction for the very first time. Roy has been the only certified Tennis Pro in America exclusively serving this population. A former university coach and teaching professional, Roy was also a nationally ranked senior tournament player and served as Head Coach of the 2005 USA Deaflympic Tennis Team, which competed in Melbourne, Australia. Known for his blend of elite coaching, playing experience, business acumen, and professionalism, Roy is widely respected both on and off the court. His essays on sport, education, and inclusion have been distributed internationally, reflecting his commitment to advocacy and lifelong learning. In March 2020, Roy was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma following severe and unexpected back pain that led to emergency hospitalization. He was found to have multiple bone lesions and a fractured T7 vertebra. Since his diagnosis, Roy has continued to exemplify resilience, purpose, and leadership, bringing the same determination he teaches on the court into his personal journey, while remaining deeply committed to the students and community he serves.
