What is the 2023 ASCO Annual Meeting?

Over the next few days, emerging research will be published at ASCO, the American Society of Clinical Oncology annual meeting. We will present information shared at this conference on our website this week and want you, as patients and caregivers to understand what this ASCO conference is and what you can look forward to. 

Oncologists, hematologists, and researchers from around the world gather to discuss the latest research in the cancer world. This research was previously submitted to a committee that approves various abstracts as posters, oral presentations, and online only. 

While this conference covers many cancers, there are oral presentations, posters, and online research specifically focused on myeloma. 

A variety of myeloma research is covered in these special sessions. This research includes results from studies that are testing the efficacy of new induction combinations, maintenance therapy regimens, immunotherapy combinations, updates on previously approved myeloma treatments and many more topics. 

The conference is usually the first time where presented information is publicized, meaning that the ASCO articles you see on the website this week will contain new and exciting information for myeloma patients. We will separate the information into articles like "What do Newly Diagnosed Patients Need to Know from ASCO" or "What do High-Risk Myeloma Patients Need to Know about ASCO" so keep an eye out for emerging research that could affect you. 

It's challenging to stay on top of the constantly emerging (and exciting) research in the myeloma world, so conferences like this make it easier to focus on key information and get excited about the future of myeloma treatment.
