A Successful Columbus 5k (and 18k Raised for Research!)

On June 3rd, The HealthTree Foundation for Multiple Myeloma hosted the 7th annual HealthTree Moves for Multiple Myeloma 5k and 1-mile race in Columbus, Ohio. Initially started by Nancy Kaufmann to honor her daughter, a multiple myeloma survivor who was unfortunately diagnosed in her early twenties, today the race continues each year to bring about multiple myeloma awareness and to fund myeloma research.
The weather was perfect as families and friends came together as a myeloma community. The volunteers, radio hosts, and other sponsors were excited to be there, and the excitement of the day was palpable.
Before the race began, a few patient speakers shared their journey and introduced Drs. Benson and Khan, myeloma specialists from The James Cancer Hospital, who supported the event.
Together 290 people participated in this annual race, raising $17,700.00, 100% of which will go directly to HealthTree’s research initiatives.
Because of this incredible community, HealthTree will continue to build lifetime personalized support and education, meaningful patient-to-patient connections and a powerful patient data portal - so together we will find a cure for myeloma.

A special thank you to our patient speakers for sharing their inspirational journey and our incredible volunteers for their commitment.
Another thank you to our local sponsors Ulliman Schutte, and Graeter's Ice Cream shop, as well as Sanofi, our pharmaceutical sponsor for this event.
