A Coach's Perspective: Why I'll Be at the San Diego Myeloma Crowd Round Table image

Myeloma is a complex disease, with much to learn.  Learning about the genetics alone can feel like you are immersed in another language.  It can be confusing and overwhelming. Research is progressing and new treatment options are frequently emerging.  Education is key in becoming and staying informed to make the best treatment decisions.

The Myeloma Crowd provides many educational opportunities to learn more about myeloma, including Myeloma Crowd Round Tables.  Round Tables are day long patient education meetings with top myeloma experts. Each meeting is focused on assisting patients and caregivers in making the best decisions about their treatment and care.  The presentations make the most difficult issues in myeloma research and treatment understandable in plain language.  Each Round Table event includes extensive time for attendees to ask questions to the faculty.

In 2020 the Myeloma Crowd will host 6-8 Round Table events across the United States.  The first will be held in sunny San Diego on March 7, 2020.

Several Myeloma Coaches registered to attend the San Diego Round Table and here's why:

“I registered to attend the San Diego Round Table because I have just completed the fantastic Coach training program and I’m eager to learn more!  I am finally ready to educate myself about my disease, and I look forward to educating others!  I was afraid of learning before but have recently discovered knowledge is power!”

-Heidi

“I registered to attend the San Diego Round Table because I want to get the latest updates from Myeloma Specialists.”   -Angela Perez

“As a 12 year MM survivor I’m always looking to learn about recent developments, especially in relapse treatment, and to meet fellow survivors. I’m excited that there’s a Round Table coming to Southern California!”

-Eloise

“ I registered to attend the San Diego Round Table as it is only an hour and a half from my home.  One of the speakers, Caitlin Costello is my partner’s specialist and the opportunity to spend time with her and the other specialists who will be there will be very valuable.  I also run a support group in my area, which allows me to use this Round Table as a basis of discussion for some time after it happens. Lastly, I try to take whatever opportunity I have to learn more and use my voice to help educate people in the myeloma community.”
