Understanding M Spike, IgA, & Light Chains

How do you test for M spike? I asked my Oncologist and he said it’s the monoclonal protein and mine is the IgA. But the IgA has reference value and of course mine was high and goes to normal if medication is working. If it does not work IgA goes up and so is the kappa light chain and ratio.

Changing Light Chains & High Ratio Questions

I am very new to MGUS, just diagnosed. I have a few questions. I've had repeat tests to confirm MGUS but the test results for my light chains seemed to have changed on my last lab report. I've typically had Lamda light chains, but with this recent lab it's showing kappa light chains and no lamda. Has anyone else experienced that? My Kappa:Lamda ratio is high also. Experiencing PSA Swings on MM Therapy?

I have relapsed and am getting very good results with Pom-Dara-dex. I've just started my 7th Cycle, with Dara now every 4 weeks. My question is about PSA screening. Last year (off therapy in remission), my PSA went over 4. After a 6 month wait, it had moved back to under 4. However, this year (while in therapy again) it went to 20.881 (quite a jump!). But a week later, it was at 7.091. My urologist said that if it was cancer, there would not be that kind of drop. We're going to test again in 3 months and determine next steps. Has anyone had these kinds of swings in PSA while on this or any other MM therapy?

Managing DVRd Induction & Weekend Trips?
