Are there different types of myelodysplastic syndromes?

Are there different types of MDS? So MDS is based on the International Prognosticity Classification, is classified broadly into low risk and high risk. Most of the times it is based on the blood counts and also the number of blasts or abnormal cells in the bone marrow and also what type of chromosome abnormalities are there present in the bone marrow. So based on that scoring system, low risk is when they have not much in terms of the blasts in the bone marrow and also the chromosomal abnormalities are not complex. So the low risk disease, most of the times they have either anemia or neutropenia, low white cell count and sometimes they may not have any symptoms. They may just get labs and their blood work shows low counts and then the bone marrow shows, you know, dysplasia or MDS. It's most of the time seen in older people, median age is 70 years, but some patients who got radiation or chemotherapy for a different cancer or sometimes if they have some congenital predisposition to develop MDS, we see in younger patients too. But most of the times it's in their 70s and 80s and it is most common and more in males than females.
