James M. Foran, MD, is Chair of the Myeloid Malignancies and Blood/Marrow Transplant Disease Group at Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is a Professor of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Oncology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
Dr. Foran received his medical degree from the University of Manitoba Medical School. He completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Beth Israel Hospital. He went on to complete a medical oncology fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a bone marrow transplant fellowship at St. Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Medicine, and a clinical research fellowship at Imperial Cancer Research Fund. He is board-certified in medical oncology.
Dr. Foran’s interests are in clinical trials in lymphoma, leukemia, and MDS, healthcare disparities in hematologic malignancy, medical education in malignant hematology, and epidemiology of lymphoma and leukemia.
Dr. Foran currently serves on several professional committees, including the American Association for Cancer Research, the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research, the American Society of Hematology, the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Foran is a member of the NCCN Acute Myeloid Leukemia Panel as well as the ECOG-ACRIN Leukemia Core Committee and the National Cancer Institute Leukemia Steering Committee.
