Men's Health Month: Strength, Adjustment & Life Beyond Diagnosis - NOT RECORDED

Event Description
Hear from Alan Katz, an AML Survivor and Current Coach for HealthTree as he discusses his experience as an AML Survivor. Join the HealthTree Foundation for this open conversation for Leukemia patients. This is a great opportunity to meet others who understand what living with Leukemia is like. This group focuses on shared experiences and finding community.
Community Agreement & Guidelines
1. Support, Not Science (Medical Boundaries)
-
Shared Experience only: This is a space for emotional connection, not medical advice or clinical consultation.
-
"I" over "You": Frame your story with "This worked for me" rather than "You should try this."
-
Trust the Pros: Always consult your oncology team before making any changes to your care plan.
2. The Circle of Trust (Privacy)
-
Confidentiality: What is said here stays here. Do not share members' names or stories outside the group.
-
Digital Lockdown: No recording or screenshots allowed
3. Respectful Communication
-
Step Up, Step Back: Be mindful of how much space you take; leave room for quieter voices to be heard.
-
Listen to Understand: Focus on witnessing each other's truths without interrupting or "fixing."
4. Emotional Safety & Boundaries
-
No "Toxic Positivity": You don't have to be "brave" here. Anger, sadness, and fear are just as welcome as hope.
-
Right to Pass: Participation is always optional. It is perfectly okay to just listen.
-
Self-Care First: You are encouraged to step away or leave the call if a topic becomes too heavy.

I was diagnosed with AML with a FLT3 mutation in November 2020 and had a bone marrow transplant in February 2021. I relapsed in May 2021 and I had a Donor Lymphosite Infusion in June 2021. I was able to get back into remission. I have been taking Xospata since my relapse and have continued to get better ever since and have gone back to work part time
