Where is hairy cell leukemia located in my body?

00:00:13:01 - 00:00:17:21
So as I said, hairy cell leukemia is a cancer of blood cells.

00:00:17:23 - 00:00:20:15
So the blood cells are produced in bone marrow.

00:00:20:15 - 00:00:23:08
That's the factory of all our blood cells.

00:00:23:11 - 00:00:26:11
So that's where hairy cell leukemia will be found.

00:00:26:14 - 00:00:28:23
It's found predominantly in the bone marrow.

00:00:29:02 - 00:00:32:01
We will see some of it and floating in the blood.

00:00:32:01 - 00:00:35:21
That's where you see those hair cells reported on the slide reports.

00:00:36:03 - 00:00:39:05
And then in spleen, the hairy cell leukemia

00:00:39:10 - 00:00:44:06
cells like to concentrate in the spleen are sometimes in the liver.

00:00:44:08 - 00:00:47:06
Usually we see with these

00:00:47:09 - 00:00:51:00
leukemias, chronic leukemias, lymph nodes also as well.

00:00:51:02 - 00:00:54:10
But that's not very common with classical hairy cell leukemia.

00:00:54:12 - 00:00:58:02
So it usually likes to stay in the bone marrow and the spleen.
