CMML is a very rare disease, so unlike things like breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer where we know a little bit more about the risk factors, the risk factors for CMML are less well understood.

There are certain exposures which we think probably increase your risk of having CMML and interestingly, in CMML, one thing that has come out from the research is having autoimmune diseases in your past can actually create a situation where CMML can develop.

So many patients with CMML may have a history of having an autoimmune disease like rheumatoid arthritis or lupus in their past.
