People with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma may wonder if their disease is inherited, or if their family members are at risk of developing the disease. While these patients may have family members who also have a non-Hodgkin lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is not typically seen as an inherited condition.

Is my family at risk of developing diffuse large B-cell lymphoma?

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is not an inherited condition. And there is not an increased risk in family members.

That said, there are a small population of patients who will have what we call a first degree relative, parent, sibling, child who also have a diagnosis of a certain type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, including another diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
