Fighting DLBCL by Attacking the Microenviroment | Leandro Cerchietti, MD | ASH 2023

My name is Leandro Sarcetti. I'm an associate professor of welcome and medicine in New York. And today at ASH we present a work related to improving treatment for DLBCL. This is work that was done in preclinical models, meaning that animal models that we use before the treatment can be applied to patients. And specifically what we were looking for is a way to improve the current treatment of the patient by attacking the cells that surround the lymphoma cells and usually support the lymphoma. So these microenvironment cells establish a communication across talk with the lymphoma cells. So we identify a way to cut the communication using a compound, a chemical compound, that's going to be in the clinic. So by doing so, the lymphoma cells lose their support and it's being killed by, it's attacked by the immune system.
