What is the difference between chemotherapy and targeted therapy?

So we are not typically using chemotherapy anymore in CLL. Study after study of actually shown better benefits. With our newer targeted therapies in CLL, chemotherapy is not commonly used these days. So this is the age of targeted therapy for CLL. And there's two big classes of medications that we most commonly use. The first one is the BTK inhibitors and the second one are the BCL-2 inhibitors, most commonly venetoclax. And of the targeted therapies, ibrutinib, which is a BTK inhibitors kind of what started it all. Now we have two other newer FDA approved BTK inhibitors acalabrutinib and zanubrutinib, which are also available for CLL patients. And then again, like we said for the BCL-2 inhibitors, Venetoclax is this other class of medication that provides patients with a fixed duration option for those that qualify.
