Speakers & Moderators

Dalton joined HealthTree in 2024 as the MPNs and MDS Program Manager. He is passionate about helping patients gain a better understanding of their health and treatment and sees it as a way to help empower individuals and their families who are affected by these diseases. Prior to joining HealthTree Dalton earned a Master’s Degree in Oncological Sciences while studying various different blood cancers. When not interacting with patients he is an avid snowboarder and hiker.

Dr. Grunwald is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology. He specializes in hematology-oncology (cancer and blood disorders). He has clinical interests in acute and chronic leukemias, including myelodysplastic syndrome and myeloproliferative neoplasms, transplantation and cellular therapy. He is chief of the Leukemia Division at Atrium Health’s Levine Cancer Institute and director of the Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program at Levine Cancer Institute. Dr. Grunwald has been named a Top Doctor by Charlotte magazine and Castle Connolly, both for multiple years. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a recognized provider for the MDS Foundation Center of Excellence. Dr. Grunwald participates in clinical trials involving leukemia and allogeneic transplantation (transplantation of stem cells from a healthy individual into a cancer patient). He received his medical degree at Johns Hopkins University, where he also completed residency in internal medicine and fellowships in hematology and oncology.
