Dr. Bhutani is an experienced clinician and researcher in the field of plasma cell disorders. Her clinical research is focused on development of new therapeutics, and her translational research focus is to understand the role of tumor and immune microenvironment in myelomagenesis. As a faculty at Levine Cancer Institute/Carolinas Healthcare System in Charlotte, NC, Dr. Bhutani is leading or participating in several clinical trials with novel therapeutic agents in newly diagnosed, or relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma and AL amyloidosis. She is also conducting clinical/translational projects focused on identifying mechanisms and biomarkers of resistance to novel agents in multiple myeloma. Dr. Bhutani was recently awarded the American Society of Clinical Oncology Young Investigator award. In addition to her clinical research responsibilities, Dr. Bhutani attends on the in-patient hematologic malignancy services, maintains an outpatient clinic for myeloma and amyloidosis, recruits patients on clinical protocols and is actively involved in training clinical fellows, residents and medical students.
