About Marilu

Marilu Najera is an international medical graduate and an Event Operations Manager at HealthTree Foundation, where she oversees the planning and coordination of in-person educational events for patients and families in collaboration with physicians. She began her journey at HealthTree as a Medical Navigator before moving into Patient Experience. These roles have shaped her commitment to helping patients and families understand their diagnosis and feel empowered in their care. In her writing, Marilu draws on her medical background and direct patient care experience to make complex health information clear, accessible, and relevant to readers' needs. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, spending time with loved ones, and her favorite role of all: being an aunt.

Marilu's personal connection

As a physician and caregiver to my father, who is living with cancer, I bring both medical knowledge and a daughter’s perspective to my work at HealthTree. This experience fuels my passion for making health information clear and helping patients and families feel heard, supported, and empowered in their care.
