2026 Highlights For World ALL Day

Posted on: Sep 17, 2026

World ALL Day is an annual global awareness day held on September 20 to educate the public about acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), which is a type of blood cancer. This day brings together patients, caregivers, and advocates to improve the understanding of ALL and its early symptoms and treatment options.

This initiative is highlighted by blood cancer organizations like HealthTree. The HealthTree Foundation is a patient-founded non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for blood cancer. Our content, programs, research, and integrated software platforms are designed to help empower the blood cancer community and advance a cure.

Here are the latest updates for ALL:

Inotuzumab Ozogamicin (Besponsa) Therapy Helps People With Relapsed Or Refractory B-Cell ALL Reach MRD Negativity

A recent study found that inotuzumab ozogamicin (InO) helped patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) reach minimal residual disease (MRD) negativity. The patients had relapsed or refractory B-cell ALL that was in remission but still had some remaining cancer cells.

InO, also known as Besponsa (Pfizer), is an FDA approved antibody drug conjugate (ADC) used to treat relapsed or refractory B-cell ALL in adults. ADCs work by delivering chemotherapy directly to cancer cells. InO was approved for use in people with ALL in 2017. This research looked at previously treated B-cell ALL that was in complete remission with positive MRD.

FDA Approves New Immunotherapy To Improve Stem Cell Transplant Success In Blood Cancer Patients

On June 30, 2026, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a groundbreaking new cell therapy called Tregzi (T cells-vldq), developed by Orca Bio. This therapy is designed for adults with blood cancers (like leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome) who are undergoing a stem cell transplant from a matched donor. Tregzi aims to help rebuild the immune system safely while dramatically lowering the risk of long-term complications known as chronic graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD).

Blinatumomab Replaces Chemo In High-Risk In Pediatric ALL (A Video Recording)

ALL is the most common cancer in children. Current chemotherapy works well, with 90% survival rates, but causes severe side effects that affect quality of life. Instead of using chemotherapy alone, researchers replaced some chemotherapy options with blinatumomab–a bispecific monoclonal antibody that trains the body’s own T-cells to fight leukemia. Not only was the new approach less toxic (fewer side effects), it was also more effective at fighting the cancer.

Antibody Drug Conjugates: How A New Drug Class Treats Cancer

Antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) are a type of targeted therapy. They deliver medicine directly to cancer cells. They are used to treat both blood cancers and solid tumors, with ongoing research expanding their role. This article will help you understand what an ADC is, how it works to treat cancer, and what types of cancer can be treated with an ADC.

Decoding ALL: Making Sense Of Genetics And Mutations

If you’ve ever wondered what genetic testing results really mean, you’re not alone. Many patients have questions about mutations and how they influence their diagnosis and care. In this webinar, Dr. Hannah Levavi will help us “decode” the science behind ALL genetics.

Conclusion

World ALL Day serves as an important reminder of the progress being made in the fight against acute lymphoblastic leukemia. There is a continued need for education, research, and patient support. Advances in treatment are creating new possibilities for people living with ALL. A better understanding of mutations and personalized treatment options are helping patients and caregivers make more informed decisions about care and quality of life. Organizations like HealthTree assist the blood cancer community to bring us one step closer to better outcomes and ultimately a cure.
